Las Vegas wishes agents a Merry Christmas

With Santa on his way, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority brought some fun and good cheer to the streets of London in true Vegas style.

The LVCVA took to the high street in a ‘Christmas Retail Blitz’ accompanied by Las Vegas showgirls and Virgin Atlantic flight attendants to wish over 100 travel agents a Happy Christmas. The agents were each given a Las Vegas themed gift, including DVD’s of movies filmed in the city such as the Hangover, Casino, Indecent Proposal and Ocean’s 11, alongside Las Vegas branded travel wallets and flashing signs.

Russell Meara, Director of Sales and Marketing for LVCVA UK commented, “We’re here today to show our thanks and appreciation for the support of the high street retailers in selling Las Vegas and what better time to do this than at Christmas.’’

“The LVCVA has set a goal of increasing its international market share from the current 18% of total visitation to 30% over the next 10 years, and we know that an important part of our growth strategy will be high street retail sales.

Direct arrivals from the UK into Las Vegas grew by 18.2 percent through October 2011 with Virgin Atlantic delivering 60 percent of those passengers on their daily Gatwick and twice weekly Manchester services.

This is the first of many ‘blitz’s’ by the LVCVA to be rolled out across the UK over the next year.
