Rendez-vous Canada is the country’s largest international marketplace for tourism products and services. This annual event brings together tour operators and wholesalers from Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America and for the first time in three years the event was able to bring back the much needed in-person attendance, together with a virtual component. This created an exciting hybrid opportunity to welcome international buyers back to Canada, not only to engage and collaborate with the entire Canadian tourism community, but to showcase the beauty of the country and the wealth of travel experiences on offer across every province and territory.
This extremely well attended and well organised event took place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre between May 24th and May 27th and was hosted by Destination Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC). The opening party was hosted at Toronto’s Steam Whistle Brewery and the hugely successful closing party was held at the Fairmont Royal York.
Over the three days over 1,000 attendees were welcomed and more registered for the virtual element. This included over 300 international buyers from Destination Canada’s key markets who were able to meet with over 750 tourism industry delegates from 450 Canadian organisations.
Over 48,000 appointments took place creating meaningful connections that will support the recovery of the sector in the years ahead. The number of successful appointments showed the strong recovery of the UK market into Ontario and Canada and generated a positive outlook for 2022, 2023 and beyond.
