Through the Eyes of Boricuas exhibition
As part of Discover Puerto Rico’s partnership with Conde Nast Traveller, MMGY Hills Balfour organised a one-off immersive photography exhibition in Covent Garden, London.
Toronto event
Initially MMGY Hills Balfour organised and hosted an immersive exhibition experience in Toronto, Canada on 22 June, transporting the Borica spirit of the Island to the metropolitan city.
Held at SPACE, the ‘Through the Eyes of Boricuas’ exhibition showcased the rich culture, creativity, spirit, flavour and rhythm of Puerto Rico through a series of photographs of inspiring LGBTQ+ figures including musicians, designers and performers captured by photographer Cristóbal Guerra.
The event featured light bites inspired by the culinary highlights of the Island, and cocktails by Casa BACARDÍ. Showcasing the warmth of Puerto Rico, the evening also featured an immersive sunset shot via a video created by Cristóbal to the media, influencers, and consumers in attendance.
London event
Following the success of the Toronto event, the exhibition was replicated in London at The Stables in Covent Garden. On 29 June, top-tier editors, media and trade were invited to a special private preview with Puerto Rican culinary delights, infamous mixology from Casa BACARDÍ and a live DJ performance from La Jeva; London based-singer who advocates for the preservation and creative freedom of Puerto Rican and Caribbean music.
On 30 June, the exhibition opened to the public, where over 80 consumers immersed themselves in the contemporary queer culture of Puerto Rico during the excitement of Pride month across the city.
