Visit Baltimore Media Mission
Hills Balfour started representing Visit Baltimore within the UK market in mid-2018 and during the first year of working together, Hills Balfour was tasked with organising and hosting an impactful media mission in London in April 2019. The aim of the mission was to introduce Baltimore to UK media, raise awareness of the destination and increase standout recognition and coverage.
Hills Balfour was brought on board to redevelop and shape the city’s tourism strategy following Baltimore’s recent growth fuelled by the urban renaissance and regeneration. The media mission offered a fantastic opportunity to educate the media about Baltimore’s unique product offering, diverse appeal and showcase the latest developments within the destination. Face-to-face meetings with a range of media from national, trade, consumer and online titles enabled Hills Balfour to position Baltimore as a desirable destination for the UK traveller, as well as secure editorial opportunities and recruit for an upcoming UK group press trip.
Hills Balfour secured a total of nine attendees, which exceeded our target. Key journalists from publications included BA High Life, GQ magazine, MTV, Twenty6 magazine, The Sun, TTG, Olive magazine, Radio Times and Bella. Hills Balfour and Visit Baltimore were able to deliver bespoke pitches to each publication, positioning the destination according to the title’s audience.
Following the meetings, we secured coverage in national titles and have started organising press trips for consumer glossy titles and national publications.
