World Ocean Day is a day that rallies the world for ocean and climate action as well as throughout the rest of the year.  Working together with youth leaders, zoos, aquariums, museums as well as a multitude of organisations and businesses from all sectors, the aim is to engage the public and inform policy makers.  By uniting the world to protect and restore our shared ocean, it is a reminder of the crucial job at hand in creating a stable climate.

Recently, world leaders made a global commitment to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030 (30 x 30) at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15).  This is not only a win for our planet, but also a massive win for the World Ocean Day community of over 2,000 organisations.

Leading scientists worldwide have determined that a healthy ocean is a critical part of the solution to the climate and biodiversity crises.  Currently, less than 17% of land and 8% of the ocean worldwide is protected.
